Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Nafasi. We appreciate that everyone has different skills and knowledge and we have needs for all of them!

Who can volunteer?
Volunteers can be an organized group or any individual who wants to be a part of Nafasi.
Examples of groups who have volunteered here are groups such as: high school senior classes, college students collecting data for a class project, social groups & clubs, senior groups, fraternity & sororities, people pursuing a career in health and education and more. We recognize those who volunteer in a variety of ways including awarding community service hours for credits needed.

How can I help?
1. - Volunteer at a school fundraiser.
2. - Help in the front office, answering phones, etc.
3. - Assisting staff behind the scenes.
4. - Preparing for projects, organizing or decorating classrooms
5. - Art, music, movement, books.
6. - Helping at events.

7. - Do you have a special skill?

All volunteers must be 15 years or older and be able to take directions independently from a staff member. There is a staff group that meets several times a month. There are also volunteering opportunities on the weekends for different projects.

The nomination price of Kruisingafonds

16 June 2009 was the day when Nafasi’s team hear about the nomination by their teacher for the LWE project and the Kruisingafonds.

After our event in Amsterdam(30 may 2009), people were still talking about it and the project become more and more popular. It wasn’t a suprise when our teacher decided to put us on the list.

8 July 2009 was the day of the nomination price. Nafasi finish second on the list of 9 candidats.

Second or not, we feel like winners :):)

Where does it come from?

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham.
